Event Information

Description

Student will be able to demonstrate the navigational theory required to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland waters. There is no Sailing Skills part to this Standard and practical application of this sailing knowledge is found in the Advanced Coastal Cruising Standard. This is a classroom course of 15 hours.   Classes will meet for 6 sessions with the final exam comprising the last class.  Prerequisite: None Costs: $245 club member, $345 non-member.  Sign up in the Outdoor Program Office. OPO Clerks:  Students should receive the book Coastal Navigation by Mike Pyzel, compass dividers, Weems Plotting Tool, and a pencil.  If this is the student's first ASA course, they should also be given the ASA logbook.  Non-members should receive a one-month Hoofer Sailing Club membership.
